Interview with Annamaria and Alessandra Rocca

Poised between rationality, manual skills, imagination and poetry, supported by a lively intelligence: Elena Guaccero was all this and much more. Had she lived in this day and age, she would have been one of the most acclaimed architects for her approach to recycling and reusing materials as a form of creativity, before it became a hot topic.

Her personality shines through in the stories told by her daughters, Annamaria and Alessandra, who opened their mother’s home in Zattere to give us a glimpse into her incredible world.

This is not a house-museum but, on the contrary, a place where you are struck by a lively energy thanks to the original design, the spaces she designed down to the smallest detail, the furnishings that blend antique and modern styles, and above all the presence of that fantastic bestiary of anthropomorphic creatures (slouching birds with large beaks, insects and other extravagant animals) that reflect her personal artistic research.
